Caps Convention

It’s a week away – the Caps Convention is returning to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center Saturday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. This is such a fun way to get energized for the season. This day’s activities get better and better each year, with interactive hockey experiences, hockey displays, autograph sessions with current and former players and 20 panel discussions.

Here’s a complete list of panels, which includes George McPhee, Adam Oates, “Locker Room Stories” and the popular “Kids Press Conference.” There’s also “Cooking with Mike Green,” three NHL-related panels, “Going for the Gold” and a six-player table tennis tournament. And I’m excited that longtime friend Michael Wilbon will join me for my “Give and Take” panel.

If you don’t have your tickets yet, you can get them here. Need a reminder of the fun and various experiences – here’s a quick video.

We have a great group of former players returning for an alumni game at Kettler Capitals Iceplex on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m., which will kick off the Capitals Convention weekend festivities. Here’s a list of alumni who will be returning along with ticket information (proceeds from the alumni game will benefit Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation).

I hope you have an opportunity to enjoy both events. And welcome to hockey season.
