Celebrating 40 Million Verizon Center Fans

Verizon Center is an iconic building and convening location that has played a vital role in the revitalization of the Penn Quarter neighborhood. The Wizards, Capitals, Mystics, Georgetown men’s basketball and other national sporting events as well as concerts and family shows have all contributed to the 16-year success of the arena.

The other evening during the Wizards playoff game, we celebrated our 40 millionth fan milestone by selecting a lucky winner – congratulations to Robert Dannemiller of Springfield, Va. He won a variety of prizes representing the numerous events hosted by Verizon Center, and he summed it up best: “I’m a total sports nut. For me to be lucky enough to win after coming to Caps and Wizards games all these years is just amazing.”

While we singled out Mr. Dannemiller, all of us at Monumental Sports & Entertainment are grateful for the support the entire DMV region has displayed throughout the years. The arena has hosted more than 3,300 events and instrumental in the $8.1 billion redevelopment of the surrounding neighborhood.

Verizon Center has created lifelong memories for many of us, and we all look forward to continuing to deliver world-class sporting and entertainment events for the enjoyment of our community. Watch this video clip that recalls some fun Verizon Center events, debate the top 20 highlights in the arena’s history and watch as we catch-up with Mr. Dannemiller.
